How Seniors Should Begin Doing More Campus Tours Essay
ââ¬Å"All of a sudden they can picture themselves there. It helps them want to make sure the transcript looks the way they want it to look when they graduate.â⬠(Lohmeyer) Since juniors are old enough to legally drive they should seek out job opportunities, job shadowing or summer jobs that align with the career field that they are interested in. Lohmeyer believes that college entrance exams like the ACT and SAT should also be on the agenda for juniors. ââ¬Å"Maybe someoneââ¬â¢s interested, for example, in the legal field ââ¬â well, just apply to be a janitor at a law office,â⬠she says. ââ¬Å"The more people you talk to who are doing what you think you want to do, the more confident you are going to be.â⬠Last, but definitely not least, Lohmeyer explains how seniors should begin doing more campus tours and really narrowing their list of colleges. Seniors should also use their senior year to work on areas of improvement according to their college entrance exam results from the previous year instead of just taking blow off classes. ââ¬Å"When a student comes in and they say, ââ¬ËOh, I want to take two PE classes and I donââ¬â¢t need math anymore,ââ¬â¢ I can look at their college readiness scores and say, ââ¬ËYou know what, according to this, youââ¬â¢ll be taking some remedial classes,â⬠Lohmeyer says. Focusing on those core subjects as a senior will contribute to student success in college courses. More high schools should enforce the same thinking that Lohmeyer does. Choices and Responsibility in Londons To Build a Fire...
Choices and Responsibility in Londons To Build a Fire and Cranes The Open Boat Naturalism portrays humans control over their actions and fate as limited and determined by the natural world, including their very humanity. The freedom described by Jean-Paul Sartre results in all individuals having the ability to make present choices independently. Despite the fatalism illustrated in naturalism, the characters in Londons To Build a Fire and Cranes The Open Boat are ultimately responsible for their choices and consequences of their choices. In To Build a Fire, the mans antagonist is nature: London displays the mans journey as restricted by external forces. First, the temperature of the tundra is seventy-five-below zeroâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Though London illustrates how nature is a difficult external force, the man is responsible for his misfortune, as his circumstances are the consequences of his choices. The narrator explains that the man was traveling ?to take a look at the possibilities of getting out logs in the spring? (978); more than likely, he did not have to perform this task, which required taking ?the roundabout way? (978). Also, despite being a ?newcomer to the land? (977), the man fails to bring a human companion to the ?unprotected tip of the planet? (982): just as the Earth is exposed to space here, as the narrator describes, the man has little defense against the cold. The man is not ignorant of the extreme cold, but rather, arrogant; though warned about the conditions (982), the man does not br ing anything except a small lunch (978). Another sign of his lack of preparation is his failure to sufficiently protect himself from frostbite: he ?experienced a pang of regret that he had not devised a nose-strap...[that] passed across the cheeks, as well, and saved them? (979). Granted, the man can not see the water he falls into (981), but the fundamental responsibility for the journey is his. Furthermore, he elects to build the fire to thaw himself under the spruce tree, which proves disastrous (983). The narrator notes, ?It was his own fault, rather, his mistake? (982); the man also recognizes this, and knows he
Poverty and Hunger in the Philippines free essay sample
Poverty and Hunger are the most common reasons why there is ââ¬Å"Child Labourâ⬠existed not just only in the Philippines, but also in other parts of Asia. Corrupt governance also caused poverty, thatââ¬â¢s why there is a need for us to strive harder in order to survive. In reality, many people arenââ¬â¢t lucky to live in a descent and comfortable living. The short documentary bought several lessons to us Filipinos, especially to those teenagers. I was really moved by this documentary. Liza, an 11 year-old girl, is one of the millions of people who suffer at her young age in order to ease the pain of hunger caused by poverty. She picks up plastics, tin cans, wires and other tradable materials in which she would sell them in the junk shop near their village. She goes to school with her destroyed foot ware and with her old bag, notebooks and uniforms which she used when she was still at grade one. We will write a custom essay sample on Poverty and Hunger in the Philippines or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page But despite her condition, she stood bravely to pursue her dreams without minding her situation as a hindrance in achieving her dreams. She grew up without her fatherââ¬â¢s company and her mother who does laundry could not afford to send her to school herself alone. Thatââ¬â¢s why she was also forced to let her daughter do the job to support her studies. Liza, without minding that the surrounding of her work place would cause her illness, still works hard to support her familyââ¬â¢s basic commodities and her studies as well. There were millions of Lizasââ¬â¢ who was left unsupported by the local government. They are the ones who should be the focus of the government itself on order to maintain the countryââ¬â¢s progressive economy. I can say that I am lucky enough to have parents that would support me throughout my daily life. And I am so amazed with Liza that despite her condition, she is able to become the top student of their class. I am very proud of her. I prayed that someday, God will lift them up to success. And someday, may the Filipinos would have such leaders that would support us and will uplift our country to one of the wealthy nations. And hoping that Filipinos would have discipline, especially in producing numbers of children to avoid them from being a ââ¬Ëvictimââ¬â¢ of great Poverty and Hunger. ââ¬Å"FLOODâ⬠One of the phenomena led by mansââ¬â¢ lack in sense of responsibility is Flood. Major threats are accompanied by these phenomena. One of these is death. Philippines is also devastated by flood which killed thousands of people within thirty minutes. It usually happens during rainy season, from July up to December. Davao also experienced this man-made disaster when flood strikes through the lower lands in Matina Pangi, Matina Aplaya and Bangkal where hundreds of family are left unseen and possibly are dead. But how can we stop this such disaster where in the first place, weââ¬â¢re one of the major reasons why there is this disaster. As what I had seen in the British Film ââ¬Å"FLOODâ⬠by Tony Mitchell, where several people lost their homes, jobs and even their family members. The couple Rob and Sam and other survivors end up in London Underground accompanied by two men named, Bill and Zack. Unfortunately, Bill died because he was stroked by fast moving water. Robââ¬â¢s father, Mr Leonardo Morrison also survived the incident. When he was bought to the white house, he had suggested activating the barrier in order to stop the raging flood from devastating their home town. Hopkins, felt extremely guilty because she had seen many corpses found on news television and worrying about the loss of her daughters. Finally, they had given Mr Morrison a chance to solve the case. Leonardo quickly responded to the said incident. It was supposed to be his son, but he canââ¬â¢t take it, because he knew that one life must sacrifice in order for millions to survive. He quickly go underwater and his son, Rob wasnââ¬â¢t able to stop him. Leonardo activated the barrier before the missiles were released. After Leonardo exerted all his might, he lost his life because of lack of oxygen underwater. For me, Government must not be blamed for this is a man-made disaster. But the government are onesââ¬â¢ tasked to protect its local communities. Oftentimes we say, that the main causes of this tragic happening are because of lack of responsibility and discipline. But we admit among ourselves, that even us , we donââ¬â¢t segregate our wastes properly because of laziness. We should always kept in mind that as time passes by, most of the people worldwide are continuously lacks of responsibility which results to major damage in our society and environment.

Essay Sample on Recent Controversies
Essay Sample on Recent ControversiesStudents with a history or learning disability should consider using an essay sample on one of the ongoing controversies that occur in today's society. Since so many problems are occurring in our society, it is important to find solutions. An essay on one of the most recent controversies can help those with learning disabilities remember why they enjoy the past and their accomplishments, while helping them to see how events influence the present. One of the most recent controversies is the debate on teaching evolution. Many students believe that students are able to discover facts about the origins of life and the evolution of species based on facts available in textbooks. However, a large number of students do not believe in evolution, believing that it was created by God. To resolve this issue, teachers and administrators should use an essay on the controversy to encourage students to think carefully about the issue. Some students find that even if they are able to find facts that support evolution, they cannot verify their ideas by using textbooks. There are two options open to educators: either they teach their students how to 'blend' facts with ideas, or they inform students of their beliefs, so that the class is able to choose which route to take. The essay on the issue will help students see the importance of the idea and help them decide whether or not they should believe it.Another ongoing controversies involve the teaching of creationism. The teaching that the earth is only 6000 years old and that life evolved over millions of years is teaching a form of creationism that is commonly referred to as intelligent design. However, many people believe that the issue is more complicated than that. A thoughtful teacher will be able to teach the controversy by having students research the history of this argument and learn why intelligent design was adopted in the United States in the nineteen eighties. Most students find it di fficult to read a text, especially one that has a subject line that contains an author'sname. This is why many teachers will recommend a specific essay sample to help students read the texts quickly. Using an essay on the controversy will help the students to understand what questions to ask, how to perform research, and how to solve a problem. In addition to teaching how to research and write an essay, the essay must also include the thesis statement of the essay. The thesis statement is the central feature of the essay, and it should address the issues in the essay. A good example of a thesis statement would be, 'Human beings and their society have developed a complex system to monitor our actions. This system is called the brain.'Although all students may not understand the substance of the essay sample, they can still benefit from the essay. Most students with learning disabilities will be interested in history and will appreciate learning about important events. By incorporating the controversy into the essay, the lesson can be completed in a short period of time and the lessons can be used for many years to come.

Free Essays on Complimentary And Alternative Treatment For Lung Cancer
I have decided to do my internet search for complimentary and alternative treatments for lung cancer. I began my search by just typing ââ¬Å"lung cancer treatmentâ⬠in my MSN search box.
